# KYB Coverage
Available checks and accepted tax ID formats depend on the country. A check that is not available for the requested country is skipped and left out of the response, and the rest of the request runs normally.

Each country must also be enabled for the organization. Contact your Incode representative to enable a country.

In the United States, `webPresence`, `websiteAnalysis`, `industryInfo`, and `financialIntelligence` can finish after the initial response and arrive with the [KYB Results Webhook](/general-reference/kyb-results-webhook).

## What each check returns, by region

## Supported countries and tax ID formats

How a business is found and the tax ID format accepted varies by country. The list below is not exhaustive of our coverage. Contact our sales team to discuss a country not listed here.

### United States

The business is found by name and location (`businessName`, `city`, `state`). `taxId` is required only for identity, and is sent to the IRS name + TIN check together with `businessName`.

**Accepted format:** EIN or state (Secretary of State) issued registration number, 1 to 20 letters, numbers, spaces, or hyphens.

### Other countries

Outside the US, `taxId` is mandatory. Some registries require it to locate the business at all, and requiring it also reduces the chance of impersonation: a business' name and address are easy to find publicly, but its tax ID is something only someone with real access to the business is likely to have. Where a country accepts both a registration number and a VAT number, the format of the value decides which one is searched: a country-code prefix (for example `GB`, `DE`, `FR`) means a VAT number, and a bare number means a registration number.
